Rebel Netters Kick Off Big Week With Memphis

3/2/2009 | Men's Tennis

OXFORD, Miss. The No. 9 nationally ranked Ole Miss men’s tennis team will kick off a big week Tuesday, with a match against Memphis. The two teams will meet at 2 p.m. at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.

The Rebels (7-2) are coming off a road trip in which they split a pair of matches, defeating TCU 5-2 before losing a close match at No. 10 Baylor, 4-3.  The Baylor match came down to No. 1 singles, where senior Jonas Berg actually had two set points to force a third set, but ended up falling in a second set tiebreaker.

Memphis comes into the match at 6-4.  They lost to Alabama 6-1 in their last match on Sunday.

Following Tuesday’s match, the Rebels will begin Southeastern Conference play this weekend with No. 2 Georgia and No. 8 Tennessee visiting.  The Rebels and Bulldogs will face off Friday at 2 p.m. at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.

Admission to all home matches is free.
