3/31/2009 | Women's Tennis

OXFORD, Miss. Coming off a huge win over then No. 14 Florida last weekend, the Ole Miss women’s tennis team is up to No. 27 in the nation in this week’s Campbell/ITA Rankings.

The Rebels (9-6, 2-4) defeated Florida for the third time in the history of the program and the first since 1999.

In the latest individual rankings released Tuesday, freshman Kristi Boxx moved up to No. 29 in the nation. She owns a team-leading 11-4 record in dual matches, 8-2 at No. 1 singles.  She is also 4-2 in the SEC.

Sophomore Karen Nijssen is ranked No. 80 in singles and teams with Boxx for a No. 46 ranking in doubles.  The two have won six in a row at No. 1 doubles and are 4-2 in the SEC.

Ole Miss will get an opportunity this weekend to pick up two more ranked wins, when they travel to No. 20 Kentucky on Friday and No. 19 Vanderbilt on Sunday.
