Men's Tennis Among Nation's Early Attendance Leaders
3/9/2009 | Men's Tennis
The Ole Miss/Kentucky match on Jan. 31 topped the single match attendance figure with 707 fans coming to watch the Rebels defeat the Wildcats 4-3. The Rebels also rank second in average attendance at 463 and fifth in total attendance with 1,389.
Those figures, which only reflect three home matches for the Rebels, are sure to rise in the next standings, as more than 1,500 fans saw the Rebels take down No. 4 Georgia and No. 5 Tennessee this past weekend at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.
“We are excited to be among the national leaders in attendance,” head coach Billy Chadwick said. “We have developed a huge following over the last 10 to 15 years, and our success at home (65-3 since 2003) is a direct reflection of this. We had two outstanding crowds this past weekend, and they definitely made a difference in us winning.”
The Rebels (10-2, 2-0) look to continue their momentum in the SEC, as they hit the road this weekend to face No. 20 Alabama Friday and No. 26 Auburn Sunday.
