Perry scattered five hits over 7.0 innings and allowed only one run, an RBI ground out in the seventh, as she picked up her fifth victory of the season. She struck out a season-high seven batters in her sixth complete game of the season.

Ole Miss (19-25, 6-18 SEC) added a pair of runs in the fifth and sixth, both on wild pitches by Ward. Center fielder Alise Doubt singled to lead off the fifth and moved to third on a sac bunt and a ground out before Ward’s wild throw with two down allowed her to score standing. Lauren Grill reached on a throwing error to start the bottom of the sixth and later scored on Ward’s second wild offering in as many innings.

Junior Ashley Dowdy smashed a two-run homer deep over the fence in left in the bottom of the first, but is wasn’t enough as No. 12 Tennessee knocked off Ole Miss 5-2 in game one of a doubleheader on Saturday at the Ole Miss Softball Complex.
Dowdy blasted Cat Hosfield’s offering well over the left field wall in the bottom of the first to stake the Rebels to a 2-0 lead. It was Dowdy’s sixth long ball of the season and scored Lauren Grill, who had doubled to lead off the inning.
The Lady Vols loaded the bases with two down in the top of the first on a fielding error by second baseman Lisa Conchos and a pair of walks. However, starting pitcher Becky Nye struck out left fielder Erinn Webb looking after Webb asked for time and stepped out of the box before it was granted.
Tennessee took a 4-2 lead in the top of the second on a two-run single up the middle by second baseman Nicole Kajitani and an RBI double to right by third baseman Jessica Spigner. The Lady Vols added the final run in the frame on a throwing error by Dowdy.
The Rebels put runners on the corners in fifth after catcher Rachel Torres singled past the third base bag and Grill was intentionally walked. However, Hosfield struck out pinch hitter Michelle May swinging to end the inning.
Torres doubled to left center with one out in the seventh and moved to third on a ground out. Grill walked once again to put runners on the corners, but Courtnie Ghinaudo grounded out to third to end the game.
Torres finished with a career-high two hits in three at-bats, while Grill went a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate with a pair of walks.
Catcher Tiffany Huff added
Nye took the loss for the Rebels after pitching a complete game and striking out three. She allowed five runs, three earned, on seven hits in her 7.0 innings of work.
