25 Track And Field Rebels Invited To NCAA MidEast Regional

The Rebels had 13 members of the men’s team selected, while a total of 12 from the women’s team will also compete.
Freshman sprinter Keith Brown is schedule to compete in the 100 meters. Brown ranks 33rd in the MidEast Region following a top time of 10.54 he set at the Ole Miss Invitational. Senior distance runner Kyle Lewis ranks 15th in the region in the 5000 meters and holds a top time of 14:03.22. Lewis set that mark at the Mississippi Open and recorded a new facility record at the Ole Miss Track and Field Complex.
Ole Miss will feature a pair of hurdlers who will take part in the 400 meter hurdles. Sophomore Lee Ellis Moore ranks first in the region and ran the fastest time in school history with a mark of 50.01 last week at the SEC Outdoor Championships. Freshman Carson Blanks ranks fourth in the region with a top time of 51.05 he posted at the SEC Outdoor Championships.
Christopher Bush, Michael Coleman, Matt Daniels and Moore will all compete in the 4x400 meter relay. The quartet is ranked 13th in the region with a top time of 3:09.23 set last weekend at the SEC Outdoor Championships.
In field events, freshman Brian Knight will take part in both the high jump and triple jump. Knight ranks 14th in the region in the high jump with a mark of 6-10.75, while also ranking 22nd in the triple jump with a distance of 49-06.25.
Fellow freshman jumper Caleb Lee will compete in the long jump and triple jump. Lee stands eighth in the region in the long jump with a mark of 25-03.50. He also ranks 20th in the triple jump with a mark of 49-08.50.
Wale Odetunde, the SEC outdoor triple jump champion, will be the third Rebel to take part in two different events at the MidEast Regional. Odetunde ranks fifth in the region in the triple jump with a mark of 51-08.50, while ranking 23rd in the long jump with a mark of 24-05.00.

Both Colin Moleton and Bryce Willen each will take part in the javelin throw. Moleton ranks 16th in the region with a top distance of 211-11.00, while Willen ranks 17th in the region with his top distance of 211-06.00.
On the women’s side, freshman Kristin Bridges will compete in the 100 meters. Bridges ranks eighth in the region with a top time of 11.54 set at the Ole Miss Invitational. Senior Kadeshia Fortune will also run the 100 meters, ranking 11th with a top time of 11.60.
Sophomore LaJada Baldwin, who won the 400 meters last week at the SEC Outdoor Championships, will participate in the event. She ranks second in the region and owns a top time of 51.95. Middle distance runner Britney Barnard will compete in the 800 meters and boasts a regional ranking of 13 and a top time of 2:07.36.

Along with taking part in the relays, both Persson and Dacus will each compete in the 400 meter hurdles. Persson ranks third in the region with a mark of 57.96, while Dacus is 16th with a top time of 59.60.
Sophomore Rachel Jenkins ranks 19th in the region in the long jump and owns a top mark of 20-02.50. Freshman Aria Gaines will compete in the triple jump. Gaines is 26th in the region and boasts a top jump of 40-06.00.
Senior Marlee Kevech will compete in the javelin throw and ranks 19th in the region with a top distance of 143-11.00.
The Rebels will also feature a trio of throwers that will take part in the meet. Junior Davina Orieukwu will compete in the shot put and ranks second in the region with a top mark of 55-03.00. Sophomore Betty Williams will participate in the discus throw, owning a regional ranking of 18 and a top mark of 161-11.00.
Juliana Smith is scheduled to compete in the hammer throw. Smith ranks 16th in the region and holds a top distance of 189-10.00.
