Reese Jumps Over 23 Feet At Belem Grand Prix

OXFORD, Miss. Former Ole Miss track and field All-American Brittney Reese shined over the weekend by winning the long jump with a personal best distance of 23-01.75 at the Brazilian Belem Grand Prix.

Her mark of 23-01.75 moves Reese into third place all-time on the United States long jump list.

"I think this is the first time in a long time that an American has jumped over seven meters," Ole Miss head coach Joe Walker said. "We are excited to see how far she can jump as the season progresses."

Keila da Silva finished in second place with a mark of 22-00.75, while Maurren Higa Maggi, who won the gold medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics, finished in third place with a mark of 21-07.50.

Reese finished in fifth place in Beijing and was the top American finisher with a distance of 22-02.25.
