Four Track And Field Rebels Named All-SEC

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. Four members of the Ole Miss track and field teams were selected All-SEC following their performances at the SEC Outdoor Championships the league office announced. 

 

Senior Wale Odetunde was named to the All-SEC first team after becoming the SEC champion in the triple jump.  Odetunde posted a distance of 51-08.50 to win the event and became the first Rebel to win the triple jump since Alvin Haynes accomplished the feat in 1992.   

 

On the women’s side, sophomore LaJada Baldwin was selected to the All-SEC first team following her individual championship in the 400 meters.  She raced to a personal best time of 51.95, which is also the second fastest time in school history. 

 

Sophomore Sofie Persson finished as the runner-up in the 400 meter hurdles and was named to the All-SEC second team.  Persson ran the second fastest time in school history following her mark of 57.96. 

 

Kristin Bridges rounded out the quartet of Rebels honored as she was named to the All-Freshman team.  Bridges was the top freshman finisher in the 100 meters as she took 11th place with an NCAA regional time of 11.67.

 

Ole Miss returns to action May 29-30 when the Rebels travel to Louisville, Ky., to take part in the NCAA MidEast Regional.
