Ole Miss
Ole Miss improved to 39-30 all-time in NCAA Tournament play.
Ole Miss improved to 17-14 in NCAA Tournament games under head coach Mike Bianco.
Ole Miss improved to 11-1 all-time in home NCAA Tournament games. The Rebels dropped the first ever postseason home game 1-0 to Western Kentucky in 2004 and have since won 11 in a row at the friendly confines of Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field.
Freshman Matt Snyder hit his first career postseason home run, a three-run shot to right field in the fifth inning that landed in the bullpen and almost bounced into the Ole Miss student section. It was Snyder's eighth homer of the season which ties Kyle Henson for the team lead.
All-SEC OF Jordan Henry continued his hot play at the plate going 2-for-4 on the day with two RBIs and two runs scored. Henry is now 5-for-7 in the regional with four runs scored. He reached base in 5-of-5 plate appearances (three hits, two walks) against Monmouth on Friday. He has now reached base safely in 56-of-58 games this season. His two runs scored today gave him 69 for the season, tied for second-most in a season in school history.
Junior RHP Phillip Irwin fanned nine batters in his 6.2 innings of work, just one K off his career best of 10 set against Mississippi State earlier this season.
Senior OF Logan Power went 3-for-4 at the dish on Saturday giving him 265 hits for his career, moving him into second all-time in career hits at Ole Miss behind Brad Henderson at 298.
Western Kentucky
Western Kentucky falls to 4-7 all-time in NCAA Tournament games.
The Hilltoppers are now 2-4 all-time versus Ole Miss.
Western Kentucky recorded 12 hits on the day and is now 31-11 this season when recording 10 or more hits.
WKU did not commit an error in the game and improved upon its .979 fielding percentage on the season, which ranked fourth in the nation entering the NCAA Tournament.
Senior OF Chad Cregar smashed his 18th home run of the season, a two-run opposite-field shot in the sixth inning. It was Cregar's 39th career long ball which ranks fourth all-time in WKU history.
The Hilltoppers are now 7-6 on the season in games where they score four runs or less.
Regional Notes
The Oxford Regional was second in the nation in attendance among the 16 regional sites after day one with 15,323 fansenjoying Friday's two games. The Baton Rouge Regional led the nation with 17,955 fans in attendance. Complete attendance numbers are not available for day two, however, the Oxford Regional saw 16,487 fans attend Saturday's games bringing the two day total to 31,810.
