5/5/2009 | Softball

OXFORD, Miss. Ole Miss junior outfielder Courtnie Ghinaudo was named to the Southeastern Conference Softball Community Service Team for her off the field work, the league office announced on Tuesday. It is the second straight year Ghinaudo has been honored by the SEC for her community service efforts.

Ghinaudo has been heavily involved in the Oxford and Ole Miss communities for the past three years. She has served on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and participated in Reading with the Rebels and National Student-Athlete Day activities with Oxford elementary students.

The Lake Jackson, Texas native also volunteered at the North Mississippi Regional Hospital and with Habitat for Humanity. She also participated in the SEC Canned Food Drive to gather food for needy families.

In the classroom, Ghinaudo is a CoSIDA Academic All-District nominee and has been named to the UMAA Honor Roll, the SEC Honor Roll and the University’s Dean’s List.

The Southeastern Conference sponsors community service teams for all 20 league sponsored sports. The Community Service Team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to his or her community in superior service efforts.
