PARIS Ole Miss NCAA Champion Devin Britton and his partner, Jordan Cox, lost their quarterfinal match in the French Open Junior Doubles to Patrk Brydolf (Sweden) and Radim Urbanek, in a three-set affair Thursday at Roland Garros.

Britton and Cox gained a break to go up 4-2 in the first set and held for 6-2.  Their opponents used an early break in the second set to win it 6-2 and force a decisive third set.  In the tiebreaker, Britton and Cox got broke at 4-4 and went on to lose it 10-5, ending Britton’s run in the French Open.

The Jackson, Miss., native will now turn his attention to grass, as he prepares for the Wimbledon Junior Championships. He will play in a Futures event in Ireland the week of June 15, before heading to London to play in Roehampton and then Wimbledon.

Britton, who finished with a 29-9 overall record, made plenty of history in his first season with the Rebels.  In addition to winning the first NCAA singles title for the Rebels, he became the first Rebel freshman to earn All-America honors.  He earned All-SEC honors, made the SEC All-Freshman Team and was named the 2009 ITA Southeast Region Rookie of the Year.
