Meet The Rebels Day Set for Saturday
8/17/2009 | Football
OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss football and volleyball teams will greet fans Saturday as part of "Meet the Rebels Day" festivities at the Indoor Practice Facility on campus.
The event, which attracted approximately 4,000 fans last year, begins at noon with the UMAA Foundation membership luncheon on the IPF playing field. Food will be provided by Papa John's and include pizza, wings, dessert and a drink. The price is $10 per box lunch and may be paid on Saturday by cash or check.
Houston Nutt and the Ole Miss football coaches will address the crowd at 1:30 p.m., and will join the Rebel players in signing autographs and meeting fans from 2 until 4 p.m. A maximum of two items per person may be signed.
Posters and schedule cards will be handed out, and once again this season, the athletics department will be selling official team gear. An assortment of Nike practice apparel will be for sale many along with a limited number of team helmets. UMAA Foundation apparel will also be sold, while the 2009 media guide will be available for $15.
Three prizes will be raffled off Saturday by the UMAA Foundation: a football signed by the entire Ole Miss squad; two pre-game field passes for the UAB game; and two Rebel Club passes for the UAB game. Raffle tickets are $5, and you must be present to win.
With Vaught-Hemingway Stadium unavailable because of the FieldTurf installation, the football scrimmage following "Meet the Rebels Day" will unfortunately not be open to the public as it has been in previous seasons.
