8/6/2009 | Football
OXFORD, Miss. - Tabbed among the nation's top 10 teams by most media outlets, the Ole Miss football team is nearing the start of preseason camp, as freshmen report Saturday and varsity players Sunday.
Rebel fans will have the opportunity for a sneak peak at the squad, as workouts the first week will be open to the public, beginning Monday, Aug. 10, through Saturday, Aug. 15. The one practice each weekday will begin at 5:45 p.m., while the time of Saturday's training session will be announced at a later date on OleMissSports.com.
Use of cellular phones and cameras are prohibited for fans at practice, and fans must remain in the designated area. When the team practices outdoors, fans are not allowed between the practice fields.
The fans will get an up-close glimpse at the team Aug. 22 as part of Meet the Rebels Day festivities. The annual event, which attracted approximately 4,000 fans last year, is hosted by the UMAA Foundation and features food, merchandise and autograph opportunities.
Once again this year, OleMissSports.com will be on hand for every minute of the Rebels' preseason drills with daily practice reports and RebelVision's video highlights of the players in action and Coach Houston Nutt's comments.
OleMissSports.com will also have exclusive coverage of Rebel Football Media Day, which will be held Tuesday, Aug. 11. RebelVision will stream Nutt's press conference live at 9 a.m. followed by quarterback Jevan Snead at the podium.
