Women's Tennis Concludes Day One At SEC Coaches Classic

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Ole Miss women's tennis team concluded day one at the SEC Coaches Classic Friday, with sophomore Gabriela Rangel picking up a win in singles and Laura van de Stroet and Soledad Podlipnik earning two wins in doubles at the Currey Tennis Center.
Rangel defeated Minnette Pienaar of Kentucky 6-4, 6-4. Sophomore Abigail Guthrie received a walkover against Auburn's Jill Hastenrath.
In doubles, van de Stroet and Podlipnik downed Vukadinovic/Schreimann of Auburn, 8-1 and then beat Valeriya Makarycheva and Elizabeth Hall of Mississippi State 8-5. Connor Vogel and Pippa Reakes won their first match in a tiebreaker against Natalia Mayuk and Olesya Tsigvingtseva of MSU, 9-8(3). In their second match, Vogel and Reakes lost to Maria Sorbello and Kata Szekely of Tennessee, 8-5.
Play continues Saturday with one round of singles and doubles, beginning at 10 a.m.
