Ole Miss Tied For No. 5 In Nation
9/13/2009 | Football
OXFORD, Miss. -- Ole Miss is tied for No. 5 in the nation in the Associated Press ranking announced today. The USA Today Coaches Poll moved the team up two spots to No. 6 in its top-25 rundown this week.
The Rebels, who are coming off a bye week, are deadlocked with Penn State in the AP poll, which placed Ole Miss eighth in the preseason and sixth last week. The Rebels opened at No. 10 in the Coaches Poll and have risen two slots each week.
Ole Miss is at its highest ranking since holding the No. 4 spot in October 1970. That season marked the Rebels' last in the top 10 prior to this year.
Riding a seven-game win streak dating back to last season, Ole Miss returns to action Saturday against Southeastern Louisiana in the 2009 home opener. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. CT, and the game will be televised on CSS.
