9/20/2009 | Football
OXFORD, Miss. -- Ole Miss has equaled its highest national ranking in 45 years, as the Rebels jumped one spot to No. 4 in the Associated Press poll, which was announced today. The USA Today Coaches poll moved the team up one slot to No. 5 in its top-25 rundown this week.
Ole Miss (2-0) last reached No. 4 in the rankings in October 1970. The last time the Rebels were ranked higher than fourth was September 1964, when the team was the nation's No. 1.
Riding an eight-game win streak dating back to last season, Ole Miss returns to action Thursday at South Carolina in the 2009 SEC opener. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. CT, and the game will be televised on ESPN.
