Women's Tennis Takes Titles At Memphis Collegiate Invitational

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Ole Miss women's tennis team captured three titles at the Memphis Collegiate Invitational Sunday from sophomore Abigail Guthrie and junior Connor Vogel in singles and Vogel and sophomore Gabriela Rangel in doubles.
Guthrie, who won her draw at last week's SEC Coaches Classic, won all three matches this weekend in the Blue 1 Draw to remain undefeated this fall. In the final, Guthrie dominated Tulsa's Alexandra Kichoutkin 6-1, 6-2. Kichoutkin is ranked No. 118 in the preseason singles rankings.
On Friday, Guthrie defeated Samford's Taylor Morgan 7-5, 6-3 and then Saturday, she handed Murray State's Angela McGahee a 6-3, 7-5 loss.
In the Gray Draw, Germantown native Connor Vogel easily defeated Samford's Madelie Van Rensburg, 6-0, 6-1 to win it Sunday. In her opening match on WFriday, Vogel downed Rebecca Row of Tulsa 6-3, 6-1 and then cruised to a 6-3, 6-1 win over Courtney Collins of Memphis in the semifinal round Saturday.
Vogel and Rangel won the Blue 1 Doubles Draw with a solid 8-4 win over preseason 48th ranked Rebecca Row and Ewa Szatkowska of Tulsa.
The Rebels will be back in action Sept. 25-27 at the Florida Fall Tournament.
