9/6/2009 | Football

OXFORD, Miss. — AT&T and Ole Miss Sports Properties, a division of TeleSouth Communications, today announced the launch of an integrated wireless and texting program to keep Rebel fans further connected to their favorite Ole Miss sports teams whether they're at the game or on the go.

Fans can now text Rebels to 51234 to receive text alerts with gameday reminders and the latest team statistics, updates and news for Rebel football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, tennis, baseball and several other sports. By signing up now, fans will also have a chance to win a Houston Nutt autographed football. Standard text message rates apply.

During football season, fans will be able to test their Ole Miss knowledge and wirelessly participate in polls and compete for a chance to win Rebel autographed footballs. Fans can win by participating in the program and opting in to receive text alerts.

"This is a great opportunity for Ole Miss fans to get in the action and receive updates to help them follow the Rebels," said Mike Smith, Director of Corporate Sponsorships of Ole Miss Sports Properties. "This wireless program allows us to connect with our fans in new and innovative ways - whether they're in the stands or at home we can keep them current with all sports news involving the Rebels."

"We're thrilled to give Ole Miss fans more ways to stay connected to Rebel sports," said Mayo Flynt, President, AT&T Mississippi. "This is a great way to showcase AT&T mobile technology and our support for Ole Miss Athletics."

Ole Miss is one of 21 collegiate athletic programs nationwide to participate in AT&T's integrated wireless and texting program, which is one of the largest wireless collegiate programs of its kind. It's also one of the first wireless programs to enable collegiate sports teams to use texting to deliver in-game activities, news alerts and content to wireless handsets, enhancing the fan experience and allowing teams to connect more effectively with their fans across the country.

The integrated wireless and texting program is an important part of AT&T's mission to connect people with their world, everywhere they live and work, and do it better than anyone else.
