Rebel Rifle Takes Part In Community Service Efforts

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss rifle team recently put its guns aside during winter break training sessions to take part in a community service day at the Azalea Gardens Senior Living Community.
The ladies took part in the weekly Bingo sessions at the assisted living community in Oxford. The sessions are run by a Resident Care Team and specially-trained Resident Assistants. All seven members of the team members were there to help host and join in the festivities, which about 12 of the residents of the community attended.
"It was a lot of fun," said junior team captain Meredith Holman. "I enjoyed playing with them and would definitely love to go back."
Sophomore Misty White played host to the game. Under a very watchful eye from the residents playing, she picked and announced the numbers to a very competitive crowd.
"I've never done community service with senior citizens before so it was a great, new experience," White said. "I was really glad we got to play with them."
The participating seniors seemed to enjoy it just as much as the rifle team members did. They welcomed the team back whenever they could come again as they exited with many hugs and kisses for the players.
With the fun and excitement of Bingo night over, the Rebels put their game faces back on to begin the second half of their. They have three big weekends coming up in the month of January, all of which are on the road, at Murray State this weekend followed by Kentucky on Jan. 23 and Tennessee Tech on Jan. 30.
