Rebel Thiemann Falls In Third Round At SEC Indoor

ATLANTA -- Sophomore Marcel Thiemann of the Ole Miss men's tennis team ended the Rebels' run in the main draw of the SEC Indoor Championships Saturday with a three set loss to Georgia's Drake Bernstein.
Thiemann, ranked No. 61 in the nation, won the first set 6-1, but Bernstein, seeded No. 8, took the second 6-3. The two battled back and forth in the final set with Bernstein coming out on top 7-5. Later, Marcel teamed up with his brother, Chris, to post an 8-4 win over Daniel Sanchez and Tanner Stump of Mississippi State in the second round of doubles. However, the pair lost in the third round to the No. 1 seeded team of J.P. Smith and Davey Sandgren (UT), 8-4.
Chris Thiemann and freshman Adrian Forberg Skogeng are still playing in consolation singles, as both picked up straight set wins on Saturday.

First round -- Chris Thiemann (OM) def. Billy Federhoffer (UF) 6-4, 6-2; Adrian Forberg Skogeng (OM) def. Creighton Blanchard (UA) 6-3, 7-6(3); Jarryd Botha (UA) def. Harry Fowler (OM) 7-6, 6-3; Alex Hill (UGA) def. Jaime Vazquez Catoira (OM) 7-5, 6-3.
