Women's Tennis Set For Riviera All-American

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss women's tennis team is set to begin competing in the year's first major, the Riviera All-American Championships, in Los Angeles, Calif.

The tournament begins Saturday with the pre-qualifying singles and concludes the following Sunday, Oct. 10 with the main draw finals.

Senior Laura van de Stroet and junior Abby Guthrie will begin competing in the pre-qualifying singles. Connor Vogel is in the qualifying singles, which begins Monday, Oct. 4.

Those three will be vying to join junior All-American Kristi Boxx in the main draw, which begins Oct. 7. Boxx enters the tournament ranked No. 20 nationally with a 5-2 record.

Vogel will team up with Gabby Rangel in the qualifying doubles, while Boxx and Guthrie, ranked No. 10, are in the main draw.

"This is one of the top collegiate tournaments of the year. We are looking forward to going to California and competing against the best players in the nation," head coach Mark Beyers said.

Former four-time All-American Paloma Collantes won the singles title in 1991 and 1992.
