Rebel Netters Fall In Pre-Qualifying At All-American

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Senior Laura van de Stroet and junior Abby Guthrie of the Ole Miss women's tennis team bowed out of the pre-qualifying tournament at the Riviera All-American Championships Saturday.
Van de Stroet won her first match of the day, defeating Jessica Stiles of Kentucky 6-2, 6-4 but then lost to Georgia's Maho Kowase, 6-0, 6-3. Guthrie dropped a 6-3, 6-4 decision to Sanaa Bhambri of North Carolina State.
While van de Stroet is done for the tournament, Guthrie will compete in the main draw doubles Thursday with junior Kristi Boxx. Senior Connor Vogel starts her quest to join Boxx in the main draw singles Monday in qualifying. She will also team up with Gabby Rangel in the qualifying doubles.
