OXFORD, Miss. - Fresh off a record setting performance, the Ole Miss rifle team will travel to West Point, N.Y., this weekend to face off against Great America Rifle Conference foes Army and West Virginia in a pair of matches.
Last weekend the Rebels fired a school-record team score of 4637 to knock off Nevada-Reno and Texas-El Paso in a dual-match competition at the Patricia C. Lamar National Guard Readiness Center in Oxford.
Senior Meredith Holman paced the Rebels with a season-high of 590 in the air rifle, while freshman Abbey Stanec posted a career best of 588. Keely Stankey led the way for Ole Miss in the smallbore with a score of 577 and Kim Coffey set a personal best with a mark of 573.
"I was proud of how we competed last time out," said Ole Miss head coach Valerie Boothe. "That was the team I have seen in practice. We need to continue our strong shooting this weekend against a pair of very good squads in Army and West Virginia."
