Ole Miss Softball Announces Signing Class

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss head coach Missy Dickerson announced the signing of five players to national letters of intent on Thursday. Allison Brown, Sarah Craig, Hayley Davis, Dallas Hardin and Lauren Lindsey will all join the program beginning in the 2011-12 academic year.

"We are very excited about the future of Ole Miss Softball and our 2011 recruiting class," Dickerson said. "We have signed several talented athletes that will continue to add to the upward direction of our program. Three of the five come in with championship experience. Dallas Hardin's team won 18 & Under ASA Gold Nationals, while Sarah Craig and Allison Brown's team won 18 & Under Premier Nationals. We believe all the signees have a bright future at Ole Miss."

A native of Los Alamitos, Cal., Brown played softball at Los Alamitos High School where she was named the 2009-10 Scholar Athlete and earned team MVP for 2010. Brown was also named to the first team All-Sunset League and the Long Beach Press-Telegram 2010 Dream Team. The daughter of Stan and Vicky Brown, Allison won the ESPN Rise National Championship as a member of the So Cal Athletics and boasts a batting average of .420 and a field percentage of .975.

A native of Huntington Beach, Cal., Craig plays for head coach Bruce Richardson at Ocean View High School. The daughter of Ron and Lynne Craig, Sarah is a four-year varsity starter and was named first team All-League her freshman and junior years. Craig was also named the league's Rookie of the Year as a freshman, defensive player of the year as a sophomore and offensive player of the year as a junior. A member of the So Cal Athletics with fellow signee Sarah Brown, Craig smashed the game-winning, two-run home run to in the championship game of the ESPN Rise National Tournament. In addition to softball, Craig is also a four-year starter on the volleyball team at Ocean View High and earned first team All-League honors as a sophomore and was a second-team selection as a junior.

A Santa Monica, Ca. native, Davis is a star pitcher at Righetti High School where her she led her team to an undefeated record and the league championship 2009. Davis earned first team All-CIF honors and was named the MVP of the PAC 7 in 2009 and picked up second team All-CIF honors last season. Davis' mother, Tracy Compton-Davis, was an All-American pitcher at UCLA and her father, Glen Davis, was an all-world pitcher for New Zealand and won several national championships for his home country. In addition to softball, Davis has also won four league championships as a member of the golf team.

Hardin joins the Rebels from Alcovy High School in Covington, Ga. A four-year starting pitcher, Hardin is a three-time team MVP and All-Region selection and has twice been named All-Region Pitcher of the Year. A member of the East Cobb Bullets 18U Gold team, Hardin and her teammates captured the ASA Gold 18U National Championship in 2010.

Lindsey comes to Oxford from Decatur, Ala., where she is a standout two-way player at Austin High School. A five-year letterwinner in softball for coach Rich Dutton, Lindsey earned honorable mention 6A All-State honors in 2008 and boasts a .432 career batting average and a 1.98 ERA in the circle. She is a three-time member of the Decatur Daily All-Area team and was selected as the Alabama North/South All-Star Week Game MVP in 2010. The daughter of Jerry and Sheila Lindsey, Lauren is a member of the Huntsville Sparks traveling team, who captured the ASA 16U Alabama State Championship. She has also earned four letters in basketball and one in volleyball.
