Rebels Rank Among Indoor Track National Leaders

OXFORD, Miss. - After the first weekend of the indoor track and field season, Ole Miss has five athletes that lead the nation in their respective events and several others among the national leaders.

Ricky Robertson's school-record leap of 7-05.00 in the high jump leads the nation and is an NCAA automatic qualifying mark. Robertson was the only male athlete in the country to be an automatic qualifier after the first weekend of competition.

Mike Granger tops the country with a 55-meter time of 6.21, which is the second-fastest in school history trailing only Greg Saddler's 6.11 in 1994.

Freshman Dante Oliver's 400-meter time of 48.16 in his first career meet also leads the nation.

LaJada Baldwin tops the nation with her 55-meter time of 7.03, which was one hundredth of a second off her career best of 7.02, as well as her 200-meter time of 24.08.

Sofie Persson's personal-best time of 54.63 in the 400 meters leads the nation and ranks fourth in school history for a 200-meter track.

Other Rebel men who rank in the top five of their event include Isiah Young in the 60 meters (4th, 6.76) and 200 meters (3rd, 21.48) and Granger in the 200 (4th, 21.55).

Other Rebel women who rank in the top five are Jasmine Williams in the 200 (2nd, 24.35), Kristin Bridges in the 200 (3rd, 24.44) and Fabia McDonald in the pentathlon (5th, 3,535 points).

Ole Miss has a month off before its next competition. The Rebels will travel to Fayetteville on Jan. 7 for the Arkansas Invitational.
