OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss middle blockers Regina Thomas and Miranda Kitts were selected for All-Region honors by the American Volleyball Coaches Association, the organization announced on Tuesday.

Kitts and Thomas were honored with selection to the All-South Region team. Thomas was named an All-Region selection, while Kitts was named as an Honorable Mention selection.

Thomas and Kitts are the first All-Region selections since setter Rachel Kieckhaefer earned Honorable Mention selection in 2007.

Thomas finished the 2010 campaign with a .421 hitting percentage that ranks seventh nationally and leads the Southeastern Conference in the category. The junior middle blocker hit .451 in SEC matches only before suffering a season-ending injury with six matches remaining in the regular season.

The Richardson, Texas, native tallied 210 kills on the season and put down 96.0 blocks (23 BS, 73 BA) with a career-night coming early in the season in a come-from-behind win over Southern Miss. In that match, Thomas put down 19 kills and 11.0 blocks to help the Rebels pick up the 3-2 win.

On the year, Thomas put down double-digit kills in nine times and hit above the .300 mark in 21 matches. She turned in a career-best .727 hitting percentage against Samford to claim the 2010 Magnolia Invitational when she put down nine kills with only one error on 11 attacks.

Thomas was named and All-SEC First Team selection by the league's coaches at the end of the regular season, becoming the first Rebel selected to the first team since the 1990 season. She was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 18 after helping the Rebels to wins over No. 12 LSU and Arkansas.

Kitts was named as an Honorable Mention selection to the All-Region team after hitting .311 for the Rebels in her senior campaign. The Peyton, Colo., native put down 270 kills on the year and played in every set of every match this season. She also added a team-leading 111.0 blocks (15 BS, 96 BA).

The 111.0 blocks moved Kitts to 286.0 blocks for her career, putting her in eighth all-time in career-blocks at Ole Miss. Her 230 block assists for her career puts her at sixth all-time in block assists at Ole Miss.

Kitts tallied 12 double-digit kill performances on the season and put down a season-high 9.0 blocks in a win over Mississippi State.
