Grill Named To Preseason All-SEC Team
2/10/2010 | Softball
OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss senior Lauren Grill was among 12 players named the softball coaches' preseason All-SEC team, the league office announced on Wednesday.
The Tualatin, Ore., native was one of four infielders selected to the team. Grill led the Rebels in doubles (10), homers (10), RBI (32), total bases (87), walks (31), on-base (.425) and slugging percentage (.608) a year ago en route to second-team All-SEC honors. She is the Ole Miss career leader in batting average, slugging and on-base percentage and ranks second all-time in home runs and fourth in RBI.
"Lauren has had a tremendous impact on the SEC the last three years," said Ole Miss head coach Missy Dickerson. "Even though how you produce during the season is the ultimate judge, it is nice for her to be recognized as one of the top players in the conference."
Each SEC head softball coach voted for four infielders, four outfielders, two pitchers, one catcher and one designated/utility player. No ties were broken.
