Rebel Netters To Host Texas Tech Saturday

2/18/2010 | Women's Tennis

OXFORD, Miss. - The No. 22 nationally ranked Ole Miss women's tennis team continues its five-match homestand with Texas Tech Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Gillom Sports Center. This will mark the final scheduled indoor match of the season.

The Rebels come into the match at 3-1. In their last action, Ole Miss swept Murray State 7-0. Sophomore Kristi Boxx looks to remain undefeated at No. 1 singles. The Grenada, Miss., native enters the match ranked No. 30 in the nation in singles and No. 18 in doubles with Karen Nijssen. Sophomore Abby Guthrie and junior Connor Vogel are a combined 6-2 at three and four singles.

"We haven't played in two weeks, so we're eager to get back out there and play a match," head coach Mark Beyers said. "Texas Tech is a good program, so we'll have to be ready to play. We need these matches to get ready for SEC play. Hopefully we'll get some fans to come watch us play after the basketball game against Florida."

Texas Tech (3-3) heads to Mississippi for two matches. Before taking on the Rebels, the Red Raiders will travel to Hattiesburg to face Southern Miss on Friday.

Admission to all home matches is free.
