Feb. 19, 2010

After a month of three-a-days, hitting live off of BB and some major repetition in outfield drills, we finally got to play a real game last weekend. Our first tournament kicked off and low-and-behold our first game was about four hours long and ended in a 16-21 defeat. After realizing we put up a football score on Thursday, we came back the rest of the weekend and shined.
We are off to Florida now, where fortunately we will be blessed with much nicer weather than we have had here in Oxford. I would like to personally thank the coaches for scheduling two weekends in February in two of the warmest cities in the country, it makes playing in February much more enjoyable. We are going into this weekend feeling very confident after our huge turn-a-round in Arizona last weekend. Despite a shaky Thursday, we came back Friday with hot bats and a collaborative effort from the pitching staff and carried into Saturday winning it in honor of Brittany Broome's 19th birthday!
I can't wait to see the many more great things to come from Amber Tramp, who was unstoppable last weekend at the plate and the sophomores Cali, Corrine and Amanda who are really making a name for themselves in this program. I also cannot wait to celebrate Grill's first senior home run and the many more that will follow after. I am sure the infield is missing Ashley Dowdy in the dirt, but the outfield couldn't be happier about gaining such powerful asset.
This weekend should be a powerful weekend for us, continuing and improving our hitting streak and the pitchers really bringing the heat.
We finally return home next weekend for the Red & Blue Classic where we will pack the stadium with both our own very eager parents and loyal fans. The home tournament is always something we look forward to, especially being on the road for two weeks straight. See you all back in Oxford, and we will try to bring the warm Florida weather home with us!
"Ain't no party like an Ole Miss party!" Hotty Toddy!
