PROBABLE PITCHING MATCH-UPS:
FRIDAY, 3:00 P.M.
OU - Matt LaMothe, Soph., RHP
OM - Drew Pomeranz, Jr., LHP
NOTING POMERANZ: Pomeranz makes his second start of the season coming off a solid outing in the season opener against Louisiana-Monroe last weekend. Though he took no decision because of working only 4.0 innings, the southpaw held the Warhawks to two runs - one earned - on four hits with two walks and seven strikeouts. He also limited the visitors from Monroe to .235 hitting in his time on the mound and left the game with the score knotted at two runs each.
SATURDAY, 1:30 P.M.
OU - Kyle Teague, Soph., RHP
OM - Aaron Barrett, Sr., RHP
NOTING BARRETT: Barrett makes his second start of the season after an impressive showing against Louisiana-Monroe last Saturday in the season-opening series. Barrett turned in a quality start as he worked 6.0 scoreless innings while allowing only two hits in his time on the mound. The right-handed hurler walked only one batter and struck out seven while limiting the Warhawks to a .111 average at the plate. He combined with junior right-hander Eric Callender for a shutout, the first of the season for the Rebels.
SUNDAY, 12:00 P.M.
OU - Connor Mielock, Soph., RHP
OM - Trent Rothlin, Jr., RHP
NOTING ROTHLIN: Junior right-hander Trent Rothlin will make his second start for the Red and Blue when he takes the mound on Sunday. Rothlin picked up the win in his debut with the Rebels last weekend as he turned in the team's second quality start of the season. Rothlin worked 6.0 innings and held the Warhawks to two hits with only one run scored in his time on the mound. He struck out two and walked four, but was effective in keeping Louisiana-Monroe off the scoreboard as Ole Miss claimed the series with a 13-2 win.
