The southpaw also garnered preseason All-America honors from Collegiate Baseball.
The junior left-hander posted an 8-4 record a year ago on the way to All-SEC honors. He struck out 124 batters on the year and posted a 3.40 ERA, second among all returning pitchers in the SEC in both categories.
He also tossed two complete games on the year - a win over No. 20 Florida on the road and a win over Western Kentucky in the NCAA Regional Championship game. Pomeranz also struck out 16 batters and allowed only one unearned run in the win over the Hilltoppers to send Ole Miss to a third Super Regional in the last four years.
Pomeranz also had a stellar summer with USA Baseball as he competed internationally with TEAM USA. As a starter, Pomeranz posted a 4-1 record with a 1.75 ERA to help the Collegiate National Team to a 19-5 mark on the summer.
In 25.2 innings of work, the lefty struck out 48 and walked only nine while holding opponents to five earned runs and a .161 batting average.
In his first outing against Canada, Pomeranz struck out 10 batters in the win. But his second outing proved to be even more successful as he struck out 17 against Guatemala and did not walk a batter. He also held Guatemala to one run on two hits in 6.0 innings of work.
Pomeranz and the Rebels open the 2010 season on Friday, February 19, when Ole Miss will host Louisiana-Monroe in the first game of a three-game series at 3 p.m. at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field.
