Women's Golf In Fourth At Tiger-Wave Classic

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- The Ole Miss women's golf team shot a 300 in the first round of the Tiger-Wave Classic Friday at English Turn Golf Club and stands in fourth place after round one.
Senior Sara Grantham fired a 73 to lead the Rebels, and is tied for 11th in the individual standings. She was one of four players to post an eagle, including a hole-in-one by Mississippi State's Maria Roos. Grantham eagled the Par 5 No. 2 hole.
Seventh-ranked Alabama shot a 293 and leads LSU (294) by one. Virginia is at 296, while North Carolina (302) is two behind the Rebels.
Sophomore Haley Millsap shot 75 and is tied for 26th. Ashley Lance and Natalie Gleadall both fired a 76, and Jillian Brodd rounded out the team with a 77.
"I am proud of our round today. As the conditions got tough the team really hung in their and executed some great shots," head coach Michele Drinkard said. "Sara played great today from tee to green. Her round was highlighted by her knock down 9 iron which took one bounce and found the bottom of the cup for an eagle on the Par 5 No. 2 (her 11th hole). We look forward to teeing it up tomorrow and taking on English Turn again."
