Rebels Host Mississippi State For Three-Game Set

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss Rebel softball team will welcome in-state rival Mississippi State to Oxford this weekend for a three-game SEC series. The Rebels and the Bulldogs will play a double-header on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. and conclude the series on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Fans will be treated to free hot dogs at Saturday's double-header and the Rebels will hosted a free 45-minute softball clinic on the field after Sunday's contest.
The Rebels (16-12, 3-4 SEC) enter the weekend series after dropping a mid-week double-header at No. 14 LSU on Wednesday. The two losses ended Ole Miss' 3-2 conference start, which matched its best SEC start since 2005.
Senior Lauren Grill continues to lead the Rebels at the plate batting .475 on the season with four homers and 18 RBI. Grill recently broke the Ole Miss career hit mark with her 192nd career base knock and sits just nine RBI behind DeDe Justice's school record of 133.
Junior Brittany Barnhill leads the Rebels in the circle with a 7-3 mark and a 3.10 ERA. The Rhome, Texas, native ranks eighth in the conference in wins and ninth with 78 strikeouts this season. Barnhill has also produced for the Rebels at the plate batting .277 on the season with 15 RBI, which is tied for second on the team.
MSU travels to Oxford after knocking off Southern Miss 14-4 in Hattiesburg on Wednesday. The Bulldogs (17-11, 1-2 SEC) are led at the plate by catcher Chelsea Bramlett, who is batting a team-high .522. Misty Flesher paces MSU in the circle with a team-best 7-4 record and 3.82 ERA.
The two in-state rivals have met 45 times, with the Bulldogs holding a 28-17 advantage. The Rebels won last year's non-conference contest in Madison, but dropped a pair of SEC games in Starkville.
