Rebels Finish Competition At Three Last Chance Meets

BATON ROUGE, La. - Ole Miss junior thrower Betty Williams set a new school record and turned in an NCAA provisional mark in the shot put with a distance of 52-08.25 at the LSU Last Chance Meet.
Williams surpassed the previous school record of 50-07.50 set by teammate Davina Orieukwu last season.
Orieukwu, who also competed in the event, took second place with an NCAA provisional distance of 50-03.50.
Junior Juliana Smith won the weight throw with an NCAA provisional distance of 62-05.00.
Freshman Neal Tisher took second place in the pole vault with a height of 12-07.25.
Freshman sprinter Mike Granger competed Saturday at the Virginia Tech Final Qualifier Meet and took fourth place in the 60 meters with an NCAA provisional mark of 6.74. His best mark of 6.73 in the preliminaries tied him for the third-fastest mark in school history.
Jumper Caleb Lee placed fourth in the long jump with a distance of 24-05.75.
Junior sprinter LaJada Baldwin competed at the Alex Wilson Invitational hosted by the University of Notre Dame and took fifth place in the 400 meters with an NCAA provisional time of 54.38.
The 4x400 meter relay team of Jasmine Dacus, Kristin Bridges, Sofia Hellberg-Jonsen and Sofie Persson won the race and turned in the second-fastest time in school history with an NCAA provisional mark of 3:35.40.
Ole Miss returns to Friday when select Rebels take part in the NCAA Indoor Championships hosted by the University of Arkansas.
