OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss head coach Valerie Boothe announced the signing of Melissa Quartarone to a national letter of intent on Wednesday. Quartarone will begin competing for the Rebels beginning in the 2010-11 academic year.

Quartarone, a native of Stone Mountain, Ga., joins the Rebels after a successful prep career at Parkview High School. A two-time Georgia all-state selection, Quartarone ranked second in the state this season with a scoring average of 292.17. A team captain, she also helped Parkview to three-straight GHSA Area 6 Championships and a top-10 state finish all four years of her high school career.

In addition, Quartarone posted a third-place finish at the 2010 JROTC National Service Championships and a fourth-place finish at the 2008 Championships. She also placed ninth at the 2009 US Junior Olympics 3-P Challenge.

"We are very excited about Melissa joining our program," said Boothe. "She is one of the very best shooters in Georgia and we are glad she decided to be part of our team."
