Rebels Conclude Day One Of Florida Relays

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Ole Miss track and field team put the finishing touches on the first day of the Florida Relays Friday from James G. Pressly Stadium at Percy Beard Track.

Junior sprinter Jonathan Juin placed third in the 100 meters with a time of 10.28, marking the fourth-fastest time in school history. Juin also finished in 12th place in the 200 meters with a mark of 20.90.

Sophomore Carson Blanks took ninth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 52.02.

Martin Kirui won the 3000 meter steeplechase and posted the third-fastest time in school history with a mark of 8:51.29.

On the women's side, junior sprinter LaJada Baldwin turned in a sixth place finish in the 400 meters with a time of 53.57.

In field events, junior Rachel Jenkins placed eighth in the long jump with a distance of 19-04.00.

Senior Davina Orieukwu finished in ninth place in the discus throw with a mark of 147-03.00 to claim the third-furthest distance in school history. Junior Juliana Smith placed fourth in the hammer throw with a distance of 185-00.00.

Freshman Neal Tisher turned in the second-highest mark in school history with a height of 12-08.00 in the pole vault en route to a second place finish.

Ole Miss returns to action Sunday at 10:30 a.m. (CT) when the Rebels compete in the final day of the Florida Relays.
