Ole Miss Blasts Central Arkansas 11-1

CONWAY, Ark. - Sophomore Cali Overbeck tied a career-high with four RBI as Ole Miss blasted Central Arkansas 11-1 in six innings on Thursday in the Rebels' final non-conference game of the season.
Overbeck blasted a three-run homer just inside the foul pole in left in the sixth inning that gave the Rebels the 11-1 lead. Overbeck's homer scored Brittany Barnhill and Brittany Broome and it was her team-leading seventh round-tripper of the season.
Ole Miss (25-23) grabbed a 4-0 lead in the second highlighted by an RBI bunt single by Alyssa McGovern and a two-run double to left by second baseman Corrine Doornberg.
The Rebels added a pair of runs in the third on an arrant throw by UCA shortstop Preslie Long and an RBI single from left fielder Ashley Dowdy that gave Ole Miss a 6-0 lead after three innings.
The Bears cut the Ole Miss lead to 6-1 in the fourth with an RBI double from third basman Melissa Bryant. Bryant was on second with no outs, but Ole Miss starting pitcher Lindsey Perry retired the next three batters in order to leave her stranded.
Overbeck answered back for the Rebels in the fifth with an RBI single up the middle that extended the Ole Miss advantage to 7-1. She finished the game 2-for-4 at the plate with a run scored. Senior Lauren Grill added two hits, two runs and two walks in two at-bats, while Broome scored a career-best four runs.
Perry picked up the complete-game win after she allowed one run on three hits and struck out one in 6.0 innings of work.
Next up, Ole Miss will travel to Fayetteville for a three-game SEC series against the Arkansas Razorbacks. The Rebels and the Lady 'Backs will play a double header on Saturday starting at 1 p.m. and conclude the series on Sunday at 2 p.m. Saturday's first game will be televised by Cox Sports.
