NOTING POMERANZ: Pomeranz enters the weekend showdown with Mississippi State holding an overall record of 6-0 and with a 1.90 ERA following back-to-back weekends taking no decision in starts against No. 5 South Carolina and No. 5 LSU. Pomeranz left the game with the Rebels tied or leading in both games. The southpaw leads the SEC in strikeouts (93) and his .161 batting average against is also tops in the Southeastern Conference. The left-hander holds 298 strikeouts for his career - second all-time at Ole Miss - and needs just 35 strikeouts to take over the top spot from Lance Lynn (332).

NOTING BARRETT: Barrett comes into the weekend holding an overall record of 6-2 and is coming off no decision against No. 5 LSU last weekend in a game the Rebels claimed 9-8 in 11 innings. The right-hander is third in the SEC in strikeouts (71) and is eighth in the league in opposing batting average at .231 on the year. Barrett is also tied for second in the league in wins with Pomeranz and a handful of other players. His 6.12 innings of work on the mound this year is tied for tops on the team with southpaw Drew Pomeranz.

REBELS IN THE RANKINGS:
For the sixth straight season Ole Miss opened the year ranked in the preseason polls. Currently, the Rebels are ranked as high as 14th (Baseball America) and appear in the rankings of all of five of the major college baseball polls. The Rebels were ranked 11th nationally the week of March 28-April 4 before dropping a weekend series to Tennessee - the highest ranking of the season for the Rebels.
A LOOK AT MISSISSIPPI STATE:
The Bulldogs of Mississippi State enter the weekend coming off a weekend where they were swept at Alabama in SEC play. The Bulldogs did not play a midweek contest due to graduation. Mississippi State is batting at a .299 clip on the year and is led at the plate by Connor Powers. Powers is batting .399 and leads the team with 12 home runs and 60 RBI. As a pitching staff, the Bulldogs hold a team ERA of 5.85 and have struck out 290 batters while walking 165. Saturday starter Chris Stratton holds 10 starts - the most on the team - and has a 4.97 ERA with 51 strikeouts and 27 walks.
REBELS VS. MISSISSIPPI STATE:
Ole Miss and Mississippi State have faced off a total of 429 times with the Rebels trailing 228-196-5 in the all-time series. Under head coach Mike Bianco, the Rebels lead 21-20, including a 7-3 lead in the annual non-conference showdown in Jackson.
REBELS ON THE ROAD:
Ole Miss has done something that's tough to do - post a winning record on the road - under head coach Mike Bianco. The Rebels are 100-96 in road contests under Bianco for a .510 winning percentage in games played on an opponent's field.
HIT STREAKS ON THE LINE:
Ole Miss enters the weekend with several players holding onto hit streaks, led by Kevin Mort and Alex Yarbrough with six game hit streaks. The season's longest hit streak belongs to Matt Smith who saw a career-long 18 game hit streak snapped on April 16 at South Carolina. That hit streak tied for 5th longest in Ole Miss history with T.Y. Gunter's 18 game hit streak in the 1974 season. Also holding hit streaks of more than one game are: Taylor Hightower (4), Miles Hamblin (3), Matt Snyder (3), Matt Smith (2) and Tim Ferguson (2).
