Doornberg Earns Academic All-District Honors

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss sophomore Corrine Doornberg was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District second team it announced by CoSIDA on Monday.

Doornberg, a native of Langley, British Columbia, boasts a 3.93 GPA in civil engineering and is a three-time member of the university's Chancellor's Honor Roll. She was named to the SEC Freshman Academic Honor Roll last season and is enrolled in the university's Barksdale Honors College.

On the field, Doornberg has started all 54 games for Ole Miss at second base and is second on the squad with a .349 batting average. She leads the team with 16 stolen bases and her 61 hits on the season ranks third in Ole Miss history.

To be eligible for All-District status, players must have at least a 3.30 GPA with at least sophomore standing, both academically and athletically, and completed at least two semesters at their current institution. They also must have played in a minimum of 50 percent of the team's games.
