Lee Qualifies For NCAA Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Ole Miss sophomore jumper Caleb Lee automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships next month by earning a 12th place finish in the long jump Thursday afternoon at the NCAA Preliminary Round-East from Irwin Bell Track.
Lee turned in a distance of 24-09.25 in the long jump and will travel to Eugene, Ore., in June to part in the next round.
Freshman sprinter Mike Granger finished in eighth place in the 100 meter preliminaries and earned a spot in the finals following a time of 10.30. The Hickory, Miss., native will compete in the semifinals Friday evening at 5 p.m. (CT).
Fellow sophomore Carson Blanks qualified for the finals in the 400 meter hurdles after posting a fourth place finish in the preliminaries with a time of 50.67, making him the third-fastest 400 meter hurdler in school history. Blanks will take part in the semifinals Friday at 6 p.m.
On the women's side, junior sprinter LaJada Baldwin took third place in the 400 meter preliminaries with a time of 52.67 to earn a spot in the semifinals Friday at 4:45 p.m.
Junior hurdler Sofie Persson qualified for the final in the 400 meter hurdles after taking 14th in the preliminaries following a time of 58.38. Persson will participate in the semifinals Friday at 6:15 p.m.
Day two of the NCAA Preliminary Round-East begins Friday at 9 a.m. with the men's javelin throw. Rebel seniors Colin Moleton and Bryce Willen are both slated to compete in the event.
