5/28/2010 | Softball
A two-way player for coach Beth Keylon-Randolph at Chattanooga State, Bruning led the junior college ranks with 21 home runs this season. She also recorded a .429 batting average and drove in 77 RBI for the Lady Tigers. In the circle, Bruning posted a 23-5 mark with a 0.99 ERA and 225 strikeouts in 162.2 innings pitched to help lead Chattanooga State to the NJCAA Women's College World Series.
For her efforts this season, Bruning was named second team All-American by the NJCAA. In addition, she earned first team All-Region VII honors this year and was a second-team selection as a freshman.
"We are excited about the addition of Kendall to our program," Dickerson said. "She had a great sophomore season and will add power to both our lineup and our pitching staff. We look forward to her joining the team in the fall."
A prep standout at Ridgeland High School in Chickamauga, Ga., Bruning was a four-year starter and was named to the Chattanooga Times Free Press "Best of Preps" and "Dream Team" all four years.
