BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- In the 64th Annual Birmingham News SEC Football Preview, several of Ole Miss' key personnel were named among the best in the conference for the 2010 season, as voted on by the league's 12 sports information directors.

On the News' Preseason All-SEC teams, defensive lineman Jerrell Powe was chosen to the first team, while defensive lineman Kentrell Lockett and safety Johnny Brown were honored on the second team.

Polling the "2010 Best of the Best", Powe was voted runner-up for league's Best Defensive Lineman, and Jesse Grandy was selected runner-up for Best Kick Returner.

In a ranking of all 12 teams, the Rebels tied for eighth overall with 43 points. Points were assigned on basis of 11 for first-place votes, 10 for second, 9 for third, etc., and an SID could not vote for his/her own school.

Ole Miss opens the 2010 campaign Sept 4 against Jacksonville State in Oxford. Click here for season tickets or call 662-915-7167 or 1-888-732-8587 for in-state calls.
