MONCTON, Canada - Ole Miss rising sophomore Mike Granger accomplished yet another impressive feat on Saturday by helping Team USA to a gold medal in the 4x100-meter relay at the 2010 IAAF World Junior Championships.

Granger manned the first leg and got the U.S. out to an early lead before handing off the baton to fellow American Charles Silmon. Eric Harris and Oliver Bradwell ran the final two legs to help the U.S. to a winning time of 38.93, which is the fastest by a junior relay team in the world this year and the second-fastest ever at the Junior World Championships. The U.S. finished ahead of Jamaica (39.55) and Trinidad and Tobago (39.72) to claim the title.

Granger is the second Ole Miss athlete ever to win a gold medal at the World Junior Championships. Antwon Hicks claimed the 110-meter hurdles title in 2002.

A native of Hickory, Miss., Granger earned a fourth-place finish in the 100 meters with a time of 10.32 earlier in the week. He qualified for the World Junior Championships by claiming the 100 meters crown at the USA Junior Championships in June. He won the event with a time of 10.30 in the finals, while his 10.29 burst in the prelims was the fifth-fastest time ever recorded by a Rebel sprinter.
