OXFORD, Miss. - Former Tennessee-Martin assistant coach Kevin Creech has joined Ole Miss Softball as an assistant coach, head coach Missy Dickerson announced on Tuesday.
Creech comes to Oxford after serving on the Skyhawks coaching staff first as a volunteer coach and for the past three seasons as assistant coach. In Oxford, Creech will work primarily with the Rebel outfielders.
"Kevin will be a great addition to our staff," said Dickerson. "His experience in working with the outfield will help push their skills to the next level. His enthusiasm is exciting, and I am looking forward to working with him."
While at UT-Martin Creech helped lead the Skyhawks to an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2009, an Ohio Valley tournament championship and 143 wins in four seasons. This past season he helped coach UT-Martin to a 47-11 record and the OVC regular-season championship.
As a coach, Creech helped three players to first team All-OVC honors and two more to the second team All-OVC squad. In addition, he coached three players to the OVC All-Newcomer team along with an OVC Freshman of the Year. This past season, he helped outfielder Megan Williams to OVC Player of the Year and first team All-OVC honors. Two more of his outfielders, Kalah Mathis and Jordan Garrett, were also named to the league's All-Newcomer team in 2010.
Before coaching with the Skyhawks, Creech served as an assistant and first base coach with the Columbia Academy High School baseball team during the 2003 and 2004 seasons. He also coached both 16- and 18-year-old youth baseball teams in the Post-19 American Legion Baseball League in 2002 and 2004.
He also served as an assistant in the UT-Martin Athletics Marketing Department during his time with the Skyhawks. In that capacity, Creech's duties included corporate sponsorship, fund raising and marketing for Martin's 17 intercollegiate athletic programs.
Creech received his bachelor's degree in health and human performance with a sports management concentration in 2006 from The University of Tennessee at Martin. He is also a graduate of Columbia State Community College with an associate degree in general studies. Originally from Connecticut, Creech is married to the former Jennifer McBroom, also of Columbia and a UT-Martin graduate.
