OXFORD, Miss. - Former Ole Miss and NFL player Ronnie Heard has been promoted to Assistant Director of Development for the UMAA Foundation, Executive Director Danny White announced Wednesday.
Heard was hired as a development assistant in April and has been instrumental in the foundation's priority seating program since returning to his alma mater.
"Ronnie has done a remarkable job in his role as a development assistant and we are excited to offer him this promotion," White said. "To be sure, Ronnie is a highly valued member of our fundraising team and an asset to Ole Miss."
A four-year starter in the Rebel defense (1996-99) and the 1999 recipient of the Chucky Mullins Courage Award, Heard graduated from Ole Miss in 2000 with degrees in marketing and general business. He played seven years in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers (2000-04) and Atlanta Falcons (2005-06).
Heard went on to coaching roles, first as defensive coordinator and co-special teams coordinator for Western New Mexico and then in an NFL coaching internship with the Seattle Seahawks.
A native of Lake Jackson, Texas, Heard and his wife, Latoya, have three children.
