Women's Tennis Splits Action This Weekend

OXFORD, Miss. - Members of the Ole Miss women's tennis team will be participating in two different tournaments this weekend.

Kristi Boxx, Connor Vogel, Abby Guthrie and Gabby Rangel will be in North Carolina for the Duke Invitational, while Laura van de Stroet and Vivian Vlaar are closer to home at the Memphis Invitational.

The Duke Invitational features a strong field. Joining Ole Miss and host Duke in the tournament is Alabama, Illinois, North Carolina, Northwestern, Princeton, Purdue, Texas and Wisconsin. In all there will be 13 ranked women's players in singles. Five of the 13 are ranked in the top 25, including Boxx, ranked No. 20. Four doubles teams are ranked, including No. 15 Boxx/Guthrie and No. 27 Vogel/Rangel.

There will be three sections of singles with draws of 16 players in each section. Doubles will also consist of three sections with eight doubles teams placed in each one.

Play will start with the first two rounds of doubles beginning at 10 a.m. on Friday. The first round of singles will also take place on Friday with beginning at 1 p.m.

At the Racquet Club of Memphis, van de Stroet and Vlaar will compete in the Memphis Invitational in singles and doubles.
