Soccer Blanks Southern Miss, 3-0

OXFORD, Miss. - Dylan Jordan assisted on the game-winning goal and scored two others as the Ole Miss soccer team beat Southern Miss, 3-0, Friday night.

With the win, the Rebels improved to 3-4-1 on the year while the Eagles fell to 2-4-1.

Erin Emerson scored Ole Miss' first goal of the match in the 17th minute. Jordan started the play as she dribbled through the 18-yard box and found Mandy McCalla in the six-yard box. McCalla hit a one-time pass to Emerson who put the Rebels up 1-0.

Jordan added a goal of her own in the 30th minute as she headed in a cross from Ally Nikolaus.

Ole Miss went up 3-0 in the 59th minute as Jordan headed in her second goal of the night off a cross from McCalla.

"We moved the ball really well in the first half and created two good goals," head coach Matt Mott said. "Southern Miss did a good job. It was a good total performance from my team and we got good minutes off the bench. Mandy is a warrior and we created a lot off her pressure. And the two goals from Dylan were effort goals."

Freshman keeper Sarah Story posted her first career shutout in the win and was not forced to make a save.
"I'm happy with the back four today," Mott said. "They made good decisions with the ball on the field."

Ole Miss outshot Southern Miss 19-4 in the game. Emerson and McCalla led the Rebels with four shots each. With her five points in the game, Jordan tied her career high for points in a match.

Ole Miss will host TCU on Sunday at 1 p.m. to closeout non-conference play.
