Robertson Soars Again At Arkansas State Invitational

JONESBORO, Ark. - Ricky Robertson broke his own school high jump record again as he posted the top jump in the nation this year to lead the Rebels at the Arkansas State Invitational on Saturday.
Ole Miss athletes took first place in 12 different events and set two school records at the indoor meet.
Robertson leaped 7-05.75 to break his own record of 7-05.00 he set earlier this season at the Arkansas State Kickoff Klassic. The jump topped the nation's previous high mark of 7-05.25 by Indiana's Derek Drouin and Kansas State's Erik Kynard from earlier this season.
Neal Tisher also broke her own school record in the pole vault by clearing a height of 13-03.75 to win the event on Saturday. Her height broke her previous record of 13-01.50 set this year at the Arkansas Invitational.
Mike Granger was sensational again in the 55 meters with a winning time of 6.22 in the finals, one-hundredth of a second off his personal best of 6.21. He strained his leg in the 200, however, and will be evaluated early next week.
Ole Miss' women throwers had a strong performance, with Betty Williams winning the shot put and Juliana Smith claiming first in the weight throw, both with tosses that rank in the top five in school history.
Sofie Persson ran a fast race to win the 400 meters with a personal-best time of 54.05, which is fourth-best in school history.
"We had several victories and 1-2 finishes today, of which we were proud," head coach Joe Walker said. "Ricky and Neal both had great performances today and Betty and Juliana had a good throws meet. We will have to see the extent of Granger's leg strain next week."
Other men's winners were Dante Oliver in the 400 meters, Lee Ellis Moore in the 800 meters and Caleb Lee in the long jump.
Other women's winners were Tia Leake in the 800 meters, Logan Waites in the 5,000 meters and Fabia McDonald in the high jump.
Ole Miss returns to competition next weekend at the SEC/Big 12 Challenge in College Station, Texas.
