OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss women's tennis head coach Mark Beyers announced Wednesday the addition of Norwegian standout Caroline Rohde-Moe, who will join the 18th-ranked Rebels this semester.
"We're extremely excited to be adding Caroline to our squad this semester. She is a tremendous tennis player with an outstanding work ethic," Beyers said. "She will make an immediate impact on our team. Caroline is also a fantastic student who will help us in maintaining our academic prowess."
Rohde-Moe, a native of Blommenholm, Norway, achieved a ranking of No. 174 in the ITF World Junior Rankings. She is a three-time Norwegian Junior National Champion in indoor and outdoor singles, and this past year added the Norwegian Senior indoor and outdoor singles titles to her resume.
A member of the Norwegian Fed Cup Team, Rohde-Moe has won several ITF singles and doubles titles and this past summer, earned a WTA ranking in singles (990) and doubles (678).
Rohde-Moe joins a team on the rise nationally, as the Rebels are coming off a successful 2010 campaign in which they won the SEC West and advanced to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen.
Ole Miss kicks off the 2011 season Jan. 14 at the Memphis Winter Invitational. The Rebels' first dual match will be Jan. 25 against Southern Mississippi at the Gillom Sports Center.
