Rebels Capture Third Place At Ole Miss Invitational

OXFORD, Miss. - Senior Keely Stankey led the way for the Ole Miss rifle ream in both smallbore and air rifle, propelling the Rebels to a third place finish at the Ole Miss Invitational over the weekend.
The Rebels finished with an aggregate total of 4636 points, behind Nevada who won the competition with 4662 and Jacksonville State who took second with an aggregate score of 4641. Ole Miss captured second place in the air rifle competition with a score of 2341.
Stankey fired a 589 to lead the air effort for Ole Miss. Kim Coffey had a solid effort for the Rebels, notching a score of 587, while Alivia Yeager posted a 584. Freshman Evalyn Holman tallied a score of 581, and sophomore Abbey Stanec rounded out the scoring for the Rebels, shooting an air score of 573.
The Rebels, led by Stankey's 577, took home third in smallbore with a score of 2295. Sophomore Melissa Quartarone fired a 576, while Coffey and Abbey Stanec each shot 571 for the Rebels. Sophomore MaryAnn Banks completed the scoring for the Rebels in smallbore, notching a 562.
"We are definitely making strides in the right direction," said Ole Miss head coach Valerie Boothe. "We need to continue working on certain areas if we're going to keep our place in the rankings. Overall, I'm very happy with our performance."
The Rebels will return to action this week when they host Alaska-Fairbanks Oct. 5 and Army Oct. 9 at the Patricia C. Lamar National Guard Readiness Center in Oxford. .
