David Shoots 68, Tied For Fourth At Brickyard Collegiate

MACON, Ga. - Senior Joe David continued his stellar play this fall, carding a 4-under 68 in the opening round of action at the Brickyard Collegiate Championship Friday, but No. 32 ranked Ole Miss as a team posted a 297 and stands in a tie for seventh place.
No. 21 Georgia Tech, No. 15 Florida State, and North Florida separated themselves from the pack in the first round, finishing at 8-under, 6-under, and 4-under, respectively. The remaining 12 teams were over-par for the day.
David's 68 marked the ninth consecutive round dating back to last season that the Madison, Tenn., native shot at or under-par. The senior bogeyed just one hole and rolled in three birdies and an eagle on the ninth hole.
Rated the No. 20 individual player in the nation, David sits three strokes behind individual leader Seth Reeves of Georgia Tech.
Freshman Blake Morris turned in a steady first round, going over-par on just three holes to finish at 74.
"Joe David had a very good day--one eagle, three birdies, and just one bogey," said head coach Ernest Ross. "He really helped our team on a day the others didn't play well. We won't make excuses, just try to correct some errors and do the best we can in a practice session to get better."
